Formula 150
Polyamide Epoxy Primer
(SM-7390) is a highly versatile
two-component multi-purpose fast-drying epoxy primer formulated
to provide outstanding adhesion, extra durability and resistance
to strong chemicals, spilled fuel, acids, alkalis, solvents,
salt spray and corrosion over a variety of marine substrates.
Meets government specification number MIL-P-24441 Formula
150 (depending on color) so you know you are getting the best!
Formula 150 creates an impervious barrier to water and water
vapors. It provides superior adhesion and durability over a wide
variety of marine substrates. Specfically formulated to out
perform one-part marine primers on wood, fiberglass and metal
substrates. Use it to create a sound base for paint above or
below the waterline or in high traffic, high abuse applications
or in harsh weather environments.
A premium-grade, high solid marine primer that not only acts as
an effective rust preventative on steel and iron substrates but
should be viewed as an integral component of a corrosion
resistant coating system in a marine environment. Recommended
for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminum,
fiberglass and wood. Suitable for use on all interior and
exterior surfaces. A two gallon epoxy primer kit that covers
300-350 square feet per gallon depending on surface and specific
application requirements. Multiple coats are recommended for
constant submersion duty. Available in one gallon and two gallon
kits.

Stats:
Dries to the touch in 30 minutes, tack free in 1 hour,
recoatable in 4 hours, dries hard in 8 hours. Apply by brush,
roller or spray. Coverage is approximately 250-300 square feet
per gallon @ 2 mils dry film thickness.
Recommended
preparation:
For best results remove old marine coating, loose scale, grease,
oil and contaminates. Sand, grind, bead blast or power-wash
prior to the application of any cleaner or primer. Where rust is
evident use
SM-5679 Phos-Pro Rust
Converting Cleaner. All surfaces must be thoroughly clean
and dry before the application of any marine primer, boat paint
or antifouling bottom paint.
Application:
Recommend applying a minimum of 2 coats. Apply by brush,
roller or airless sprayer. For conventional sprayers thin if
necessary with SM-620 Thinner. Cleans up with SM-610 Lacquer
Thinner. Dry to the touch in 30 minutes. Pot life 24 hours @
70F. Epoxy Primer should be allowed to dry a minimum of two to
three hours before recoating with subsequent primers or marine
coatings. It should be applied to a dry film thickness between
0.3-0.4 mil. For non-marine equipment or on iron or steel
surfaces it should be applied to 0.6-0.8 mil dry film. NOTE:
This epoxy primer is designed for application over
surface-treated metal or pretreatment coatings (SeeSM-117 Pre-Treatment Wash Primer).
If used for dip or
flow-coat application, the product suitability should be
determined by the user.
