Supermarine Zinc-Plate Primer
(SM-1757) provides powerful zinc protection! A very fast-drying
zinc rich primer designed primarily as a corrosion-inhibiting
product for use on aluminum boats or marine equipment, ferrous
and nonferrous metal surfaces in marine environments. Use it
alone or apply a marine finish coat over it. A premium-grade,
high solid marine primer that not only acts as an effective rust
preventative on steel and iron substrates but should be viewed
as an integral component of any corrosion resistant coating
system.
Zinc-Plate is yellow zinc rich and contains a balanced
composition of special pigments and phenolic modified resin
providing good rust-inhibitive properties and blister resistance
for better adhesion and metal protection. It is satisfactory for
application in a wide range of temperatures and humidity
conditions. Conforms to government specification number
TT-P-1757. Color: Yellow. Product type: Zinc Chromate Phenolic
Modified Alkyd Rust-Inhibitive Zinc Primer.

Stats:
Dry to the touch: 5-10 minutes, tack free: 20 minutes, time to
recoat: 30 minutes, dry hard: 30 minutes. Weight Solids: 58-60%.
Practical coverage is 300-350 square feet per gallon @
approximately 2.0 mils dry.
Recommended preparation:
For best results remove old marine coating, loose scale, grease,
oil and contaminates. Sand, grind, bead blast or power-wash
prior to the application of any cleaner or primer. Where rust is
evident use
SM-5679 Phos-Pro Rust
Converting Cleaner. All surfaces must be thoroughly clean
and dry before the application of any marine primer, boat paint
or antifouling bottom paint.
Application:
This product is at a spray viscosity designed for airless use:
The zinc primer should be allowed to dry a minimum of 1/2 hour
before recoating with subsequent zinc primers or marine paints.
It should be applied to a dry film thickness between 0.3-0.4
mil. For non-marine equipment, or on iron or steel surfaces it
should be applied to 0.6-0.8 mil dry film. NOTE: This zinc
primer is designed for spray application over surface-treated
metal or pretreatment coatings (See
SM-117 Pre-Treatment Wash Primer). If used for dip or
flow-coat application, the product suitability should be
determined by the user. Physical characteristics: Viscosity:
20-25 sec. #2 Zahn. Stir thoroughly before use. Brush, roller,
or spray.
Thin & clean up:
Use only with factory recommended thinner. It should not be
thinned unless absolutely necessary. Thin if necessary with
SM-605
Synthetic Thinner. Tools and
equipment may be cleaned with
