Zinc-Plate
(SM-5000)
is absolutely loaded with Zinc! It has so much zinc in it you
could open your own plating shop with this stuff! You simply
aren’t going to find more zinc anywhere. Zinc-Plate can be used
as either a heavy zinc primer or as a rust preventative
protective topcoating. It is a combination Organic-Inorganic
Zinc Rich formulation supplied ready-mixed with Zinc Dust and
Vehicle together to create a unique protective coating.
Zinc-Plate
has been formulated with special components that provide a
superior mechanical and chemical bond while providing
outstanding resistance to rust, electrolysis, weathering and
high heat. A high zinc content industrial marine coating
intended for use on bare ferrous metals. It is acceptable for
use in marine environments, or where there is extreme weather or
in industrial or manufacturing applications. Use it to protect
weathered galvanized materials and raw steel surfaces. It holds
up well under high heat, salt spray, harsh weather conditions or
severe atmospheric exposure and may be top coated with most
vinyl coatings. Available in zinc gray color. Available in
quarts or one gallon containers.

Stats:
Covers 225-250 square feet per gallon. Dry to the touch in 30
minutes. Weight solids 81%. Tack free in one hour. Allow 4 hours
to recoat. Airless or conventional spray is the recommended
application method. Airless tips should be approximately .027
inch orifice. Apply one coat at 2.3 mils. Available only in
zinc-gray color NOTE: WEIGHT PER GALLON: 22 lbs. per gal.
Recommended preparation:
Refer to Application Instructions Sheet included with order,
label directions and standard industry application practices.
For best results remove old paint, loose scale, wax, oil and
contaminates. Sand or scuff all surfaces prior to the
application of any primer or coating. Strongly recommend the use
of
SM-695
Etching Cleaner. Not
recommended for wood or fiberglass surfaces. Where rust
is evident recommend
SM-5679 Phos-Pro Rust
Converting Cleaner. All surfaces
must be thoroughly dry and free of contaminates before
application.

Thin & clean up:
Thinning not typically required. Use only with factory
recommended thinner,
SM-605 Thinner
Clean all equipment thoroughly with
SM-605 Thinner.
Clean up
with
SM-605 Thinner.
